Today I took the time to look into the website http://www.etsy.com/ to look at how the products are displayed.I noted a few differences and similarities on how I want my website to be formatted and seen. First I will explain the differences. The website has an expansive selection of items from hats to dresses to different miscellaneous items. My website would honestly just include scarves and hats so the page wouldn't need intricate links within links within links. Additionally, the website itself seems pretty plain, as I continue working on this website, I'm trying to add a bit more color and design.
What I love about etsy is the format the pictures are shown and how the photos complement the hat.

Reflection Week 13: Popular Literature
Reflection Week 13: Popular Literature
REFLECTION WEEK 13!
With my final blog post I wanted to put together a reflection on my entire project. I enjoyed learning about something that I chose, it was interesting. My plans from the beginning changed along the way, but overall I think it was a good experience.
My first major problem was narrowing down the books to use, and I got a bit distracted doing it. However, I am very happy with my final list. I spent some time looking at other aspects of literature in the 21st century, including technologies effect on it, and found some really interesting information I look forward to sharing in my presentation.
I ran into a bit of a time crunch. My original plan was to write a book along with this project, but by the time the books were selected and analyzed, and I wrote out an equation of what makes a book popular today I was out of time. I settled for a book cover summary of an idea that is based off my founded must haves. Perhaps in the future I can return to this idea when I have more time.
My really big problem came with trying to use a new feature on prezi, I had to redo my presentation multiple times, and it even messed itself up the night before the final was due. However, I have figured out the problem and am very happy with how the final prezi turned out.
This project was a good experience. It let me learn and study a lot more of what I was interested in and gave me a new light on what it means for a books to be a best seller in the 21st century. I am excited to share my presentation with the class.

REFLECTION WEEK 12!
This week I spent my time focusing on putting together my presentation for the project. I decided on a prezi and learned to do what's called a 3D background with it. It looks really good, but is giving me some trouble and taking longer than usual. I'm going to continue working with it for the rest of the week and see if I can get it ready or just change to a regular prezi.
All my information is ready to go. Everything is typed up and just waiting to be put into the prezi. As soon as I can figure out how to get the prezi to cooperate, things should be a lot easier from here on out. I didn't have much else to do this week besides pull everything together. I started putting together my works cited as well.
Reflection Week 11: Popular Literature

REFLECTION WEEK 11!
This week I spent time finishing up all my research for my project. I've finished my idea for a formula for writing a best selling novel and have put all my ideas together. Everything having to do with research and development is mostly done, just leaving the presentation to really focus on.
The next phase for my project is putting the presentation together and figuring out the best way to present it. I think I am going to design a prezi to show what I've been working on over the past few months.
My plan for the next two weeks is to finish everything. I have to design the final presentation and work on how to present it. I'll talk about what I plan to do for my presentation next week when I finalize all my ideas.
Reflection 13: FINAL REFLECTION
I have learned alot while doing this project. It certainly made me reflect and be grateful for the gift of athleticism and size. It made me look deeper into just what I accomplished in my high school athletic career and actually did make me sad to think that it is all over now. I will never suit up in the Johnson Navy and White ever again. I realized this to an extent after my final game, but it never really hit me until I was making posts. I was writing and then it hit me "wow, this is really over." I am partially excited that the recruiting process is coming to an end, but it also does make me sad. I mean, how often in life do people tell you everything you want to hear? How often to do you get offered money and an education to do something you love? More information will be presented during my presentation. I did enjoy doing this project because the whole time, I wished someone could just give me answers. Now, when other students begin their recruiting process, I hope they look to my blog for answers to all of their questions. That is what I looked for during mine.
oh stop it..... quit being chantastic
I have began preparing my 20 percent presentation for monday. I am kinda of excited, but also nervous at the same time. I hope everyone likes and appreciates my project and my findings about the different learning styles. This week I have been trying out different softwares, in order to better enhance my presentation. I am trying to decide whether or not I should do a power point or a prezi? What do you think? Also, I have been organizing and tallying all the numbers and results to incorporate in my project before my monday presentation deadline. Wish me Luck!

Ready, Set, Gooooo
So far based on my observational experiment with Mrs. Carmichael's class, I have found patter amount the freshman class. Most of the students were able to recall the numbers visually seeing them (class average was a 8) then when I spoke the numbers (class average was a 3). There were some cases in which the auditory learning style where a select group of students were able to do extremely well (way above the class average). But there was also students who did extremely poor, way below the class average. So far, so good. My project if off to a great start

Alright!
My project is done, and it's going to be fun to present it!
I figured I'd save this post to the very end to wrap everything up
So here goes:
I've learned a lot by doing this project.
I've learned how much is ahead of me if (and when) I pursue the task of actually creating my sanctuary.
I've learned that not everything can be done in one day, and that everything costs money... And lots of it.
I also learned that people are a great source of information. Sure, a page on a website can tell you a lot, but actually talking to a representative, to a real human being, gives you a new perspective on the topic.
So yeah...
It was a great humanities class guys.
See you all later! =)

What have I learned....
So what have I learned from this
little project?
I have the value of:
Time Management
Time Management
Proper research before handing in a proposal for an idea
Programmers really deserve more respect.
Perhaps had I been a bit more
efficient with my time, I might have been able to convert the program into an
app. I did really spend an obscenely long time getting HelloWorld to work
properly etc. I could have invested more time into this project per week and
maybe I could have got the program converted into an app. Lesson learned…
Research! Never jump into anything
head first unless you are using your head. I immediately said yes to a project
idea without truly giving it much thought. Not a very smart thing to do. Always
think, research, think some more, decide and then act.
The last comment is really self-explanatory.
Programmers spend an insane amount of time crafting, coding, and even more time
debugging their software. These guys really deserve a ton of credit.
So, that’s it.
Monday is my presentation.
Wish me success.
Code Long and Prosper.
It was great talking to you guys.

Programming People across the world,
Okay, so everything seems shipshape. Everything is done and ready for the big day. It’s funny…it doesn’t feel like 5 months have passed since the beginning of this year and yet here I am, studying for my AP Calc midterm. To think in 7 months, I’ll be heading off to college…huh.
Sorry about that. Just got lost in time ....really is crazy though now that I think about it.
Any way, yeah. Everything is set and ready to go. Sorry this is really short but I truly have nothing else to say.
Good Bye and Good Luck.

Coding (11)
Right so I said I would explain some of the stuff that I learned over the pass few months. Well, here's the post that answers that.
So right to it.
When you are parsing a String, it means that the computer is taking in an input value from the user and converting it into another form such as an Integer. So, yes, should you enter the number 3 into a program the computer will read it as text NOT a number value. So to convert that, you need to parse it, thus converting the String into a bit of code that the computer understands is a number.
Using Methods. Now, methods are a rather handy thing to have in Java when you want to make your work look cleaner and call functions that exist outside the main function that you are running. For more information, I really do suggest Jeff Wheaton's Java Programming for Beginners.
Extending other classes is nice feature that Java offers. Basically, you can access other methods, variables etc not declared in your code but are declared in the extended class.
Importing packages is essential to do know and do once you get past the basics in Java. Importing packages increases the available things that Java can do and access. There are certain things that you won't be able to do in Java unless you import the correct package.
I learned a fair bit of other stuff but if I told you everything, what would be left to learn!
So go on out there. The whole Internet is at your fingertips.
Here's some motivation:
“ It's not at all important to get it right the first time. It's vitally important to get it right the last time. ”
“ Always code as if the guy who ends up maintaining your code will be a violent psychopath who knows where you live. ”
So right to it.

Coding(10)
Hello, fellow coders.
So the code’s done, I got a great idea
for a presentation, about 80% done with the coding for that. Powerpoint is coming
together quite nicely.
I decided to give an overview of
coding, show some example code, show off my calculator and then wrap it up and
go to England with Tony Stark.
Oops.
Spoiler Alert!
Spoiler Alert!
No worries, once my project is over, I’ll
put up the code for my presentation up here too.
Well, that’s all for now.
Not really much more to say now, considering everything is about done.
Catch you later.
Coding(9)
Hello, future programmers!
So, I’m working on my presentation. Got a couple of fun
ideas rolling around in my head, many including Iron Man, several including
Bruce Banner. It’ll be fun to say the least.
I also have to make a PowerPoint
of detailing my ups and downs during the project. So I’m making a pptx.of from
the beginning. Meaning that I’m going back to HelloWorld and making a nice trip
down memory lane. Might rewrite a few of my more beginning programs and put the
code up in my presentation…hmmm, maybe….
Anyway, I’m willing to throw up my
code for my calculator up here if anyone is interested in looking at it and
considering reworking it to make it look somewhat cleaner.
Also, there are other programming
languages. Don’t just see Java and stick with it. Take a look, perhaps you will
like C++ better or maybe even bash(hint: this is one is…well…its something). I
really think that perhaps its would be better had I spent a little researching
different languages, not really easier to code but the syntax may have been
easier to understand.
A personal goal is to learn at
least bash and maybe C++(the IDE doesn’t like my computer…)
Well, that’s that.
Catch you on the coded side.

results of Dr. Visit (10)
As you all know I had a doctor appoitment with the psychiatrist last friday. We were suppose to talk about the 5o4 plan, but things in the office were a little hectic. He told me he was sorry but not to worry because he would email me any last information that I needed for my project. Glad he kept his word and remembered, I recieved an email later on [ but I won't go into detail, you guys can see it all during my presentation :) ]. The downfall about visits to the doctor is that there's honestly so much to get done and talk about and unfortunately there's never enough time hence why we had to get right to important stuff.
I dont mind sharing about some of the things that went on during my appointment because it is related to the project and it gives you guys an "in" to the other side of things. So basically what happened is, I had recently switched medications 4 weeks ago. I'll explian the medications, how they work, and the difference so you guys can have understanding of them and follow what I'm saying. The two most common and widely used medications to treat ADHD and ADD are Ritalin (methylphenidate) and Adderall (amphetamine and dextroamphetamine). Ritalin, which is what I was previously taking is used to help me calm down and concentrate on my work. From my understanding about the medications and what I've been told... to put it in easy terms, Ritlain works with the CNS by giving you more brain receptors to recieve the chemicals and messages in your brain to calm down and relax. The thing about this medication is that it actually alters your brain and its' structure which is why Adderall is sometimes more preferred. Personally, I didn't like the way I felt taking it, sure it helps suppress my problems but I wasn't the biggets fan. The reason why I was switched to Adderall was because of that very reaosn and because unlike Ritlain, this medication helps by adding more chemicals to the brian to help concentrate whereas Ritlain was altering the brain itself. Because Adderall is adding more chemicals to the brain people can become very depednet on it, some even get addicted to it, it's actually really scary.
I use the simple analogy of Adderall is just giving the braine medicine to help concentrate and get work done, wherer Ritlain is a medicine that changes the brain to hopefully have it concentrate more. My mom didn't like the idea of changing the format of my brain either so thats why she also prefers Adderall, it's just adding a synthetic version of the chemical my brain is suppose to produce or produce enough to get thge job done. So quick background and understanding of the medications.

My twenty percent project is almost finish, I just need to finalize it for the my presentation on Monday. I created an outline of the key things that I will say in my 10 minute presentation. Through this project I have learned a lot as you can see in my previous blog posts. To be honest with you I did not know that every student learned differently, well yeah I knew that too others learning and retaining information cam easier, but I never knew the different terms and I never knew that someone can be more than one. It is cool how people switch from one style to another depending on the subject or how they feel. Also, I learned that in school teacher learn how to vary the way they are teaching, because of the fact that everyone learns differently. Teacher must teach to all teaching styles. This was something I did not know and found very fascinating and interesting. A lot of these things occur in a students everyday life, but some people are just not aware of it or did not pay attend to how we obtain and recall information.

I have successfully gotten more page views this past week. Still have no comments on those posts, but we are making progress. Hopefully I can figure something out this week. All of the websites cost money, and the ones that are free are the same exact thing as a blogger account. Lots to think about. Getting more views is definitely a big to do!
Post 12
Big news classmates, I now have 35 views on my blog. Thanks to @smallbutfiesty and her fabulous marketing, my blog has received many more views. Also, I have a comment too. I feel like a celebrity. I hope these people really use this information and put it to good use. This is valuable information that I hope people appreciate. Check back for more posts!

Program Complete.
And 843 lines of code later, I'm done! I have fully created my physics calculator. This bad boy is capable of figuring out how to solve almost any equation falling under the concept of Newtonian physics. This includes force, velocity/kinematics, energy, and the laws of gravitation.
Although I'm sorry to state that its not going to become an app before my project is due, I'd still like to work on making it one, (well after my AP Calculus midterm is over). It would seem like a fun project to do over the summer. Might even consider building another calculator for another subject or try to see if I could make this one cleaner in terms of code.
Not much left to do now. I just have to make my presentation for it and I'll be set.
Catch you later.

Redefining the Goal...
Hello again everyone! Time to bring you all back up to date on where I am with my project.
Well, I have basically have finished the computer program and it works flawlessly. Unforunately, I don't believe that it will be leaving my laptop screen. I really don't think that its going to become an app. Guess I bit off a bit more than I could chew that time...
But it's okay really. Renowned film director, Woody Allen has something to say about failure:
This is really true. Edison failed to create the light bulb in his few hundreds tries( great man, Edison) but still he pressed on and he succeeded.
Anyway, its not like I didn't learn anything. I did learn some programming in Java which is pretty fun once you get the hang of it. My next goal to work on is learning bash scripts and maybe C++......
Well, catch you later.

I'm back!
Hi, hello, everyone! Yes, it's me, I'm still alive and coding. Sorry about the lack of posts but...well... I'm back and that's all that really matters.
So what I have I been up to in the past few months? Well, I have made considerable amount of progress on my project in my opinion. I have completed a large chunk of the code necessary for my project to exist. I've also left Command Prompt behind and begun using Eclipse. Eclipse is an IDE, which is Integrated Developers Environment. An IDE is software which enables a programmer to write, debug, and run their code. It's very good and far easier than using command prompt because command prompt won't tell you where the errors are in your code but Eclipse does.
Now, what have I learned in the past few months?
I have learned to:
amongst some other things. Don't worry if you feel lost with everything I just mentioned. I'll use the next few blog posts to talk about everything I just mentioned as well as keep you up to date with my project.
It's actually pretty amazing with what you can do with a handful of lines of code and a creative mind. Remember, anyone who can push buttons can become a programmer. Well, until next time.

- to parse a String
- use Methods
- extend other Classes
- import packages
amongst some other things.

Animal Tracks 12
So here's the roughness of my project right now. It's a spreadsheet. But what you don't see is what's already in my presentation.
I can't give EVERYTHING away.
I'll have lots of pictures too.
I think you guys will enjoy what I have in store!

doctor visit today (9)
Hey guys so I'm actually going to the pyschiatrist today, to talk about my own little learning disability, ADHD. We're going to be discussing my medication and our meetings and what else we can do to help me. While I'm there I'm going to pick up some pamphlets on learning diasbilities/behavior issues and on their medications and treatments. I will also be talking to him about 5o4 plans and getting infomation for the project. Another part of my project, as well as the final product is to not only discuss and explain how a student would get a 504 plan but see if I, myself can get a 504 plan.
To be completely honest, I don't really want a 5o4 plan, I've talked about with my counsleor beginning of junior year of how I could get extra time on assignments but I felt that would be cheating and/or unfair and I didn't want to take the "easy way out" but throughout my junior and senior year I've come to realize that its not unfair but actually more fair. I'm allowed and suppose to have extra time and maybe If I accpeted the help offered I wouldnt be struggling as much as I do in school with meeting deadlines and handling all of my work. "Normal" kids have issues with keeping up and surviving in school and then theres people like me... for us its much harder. I will definitely post tonight after my appointment and let you guys know how it goes

Week 10: Safety of Makeup
The following is a short introduction on the history of makeup from WebMD:
From the copper and lead ore that the ancient Egyptians used to create the world's first cosmetics to the scientifically advanced products of today that can do everything from hide pores, smooth complexions, and turn the pale green of your eyes a vivid shade of emerald, makeup has been an integral part of humankind for thousands of years. Over the centuries, women used burnt matches to darken their eyes, berries to stain their lips and young boys' urine to fade their freckles. They even swallowed ox blood in some misguided attempt to improve their complexions.
Women throughout history put their health at risk with many of their homemade cosmetics. In some cultures, for example, women used arsenic, lead, mercury, and even leeches to give themselves the pale appearance deemed beautiful in the old days. Thankfully, we've come a long way from the days of using toxic and deadly mixtures to enhance our looks.
Today's multibillion dollar cosmetic industry must meet strict
government regulations about what it can and cannot include in products
and must follow safe manufacturing guidelines. Today, the most serious
injury you're likely to receive from your cosmetics is an irritation or a rash from using a product that's too harsh for your skin.
Yet, despite decades of safety testing and a safety record unparalleled
in many industries, there are many myths circulating about the dangers
of cosmetic ingredients.

The Results Part 1...
So I spent the past week going over the results of Mrs. Carmichael's B Day Period 7-8 Freshman Class.
On December 7 2012, I taught the class a list of twenty randomly selected numbers by using the infamous teaching style of VEBRAL COMMUNICATION. I recited the list which is provided on the left (for your connivence) to the class. So far I was pretty satisfied with the results. In Mrs. Carmichael's class of twenty-four, seven students got higher than 6 numbers correct. The class average was five numbers correct. The largest amount of numbers answered correctly was 9 and the lowest was 1. So that means everyone was able to retain some information (some number). In this case, no one was not able to retain any .
need another opinion (8)
Okay so as you guys know, The final product of this project will explain how to get a 5o4 plan. I have one of those presentation boards, the thick sturdy material.... I think it's called a trifold (not really sure), but anyways the trifold holds background information, the survey results, medications, and pictures basically like necessary background information but I was debating on what I should do for the final product aspect of it. I was thinking of cutting a folder in half and gluing that on the trifold and it would hold brochures on how to get a 504 plan(this being the actual final product, something tangible that the reader can take along with them) , but do you guys think that's the most effective thing? Should I be explaining on the trifold itself on how to get a 504 plan, by writing it out and including bullet point steps on how to get the 5o4 plan, or flyer/handouts? I honestly think the brochure would be the best idea, let's say someone is in need of a 504 plan or has a learning disability and would like to know how to go about this I think it would be helpful to include it on the trifold itself but it may be awkward if someone doesn't want everyone knowing and then they spend about 10 minutes reading the trifold, so I feel like the brochure would be best?
This is basically the last thing that has to get worked on, the presentation aspect is all taken care of now I have to gather all the information collected, used my knowledge obtained during the process of this project and just make the brochure to include. Also, do you think I should one brochure so people can take it in and out, read it as they please and leave it for the next person or should I be printing out multiple copies? 10-15 is a good amount of copies to print out right? Or should I do more? Not really sure. Ms. Roy originally had the idea of making this a bulletin board thing, and i think that would be awesome but I don't even think I even got permission to do that, and the trifold is basically already done, so also give some ideas of where it could be displayed or where you would think it would be most convenient for students ?
